Rebecca [00:00:14]: Well, really, Scott is. But I found this video and I cannot stop following this kid on Instagram.
Erin [00:00:21]: Okay.
Rebecca [00:00:21]: I love him so much. It’s his delivery. It’s his little voice.
Erin [00:00:28]: How old is he?
Rebecca [00:00:29]: He’s got to be, I don’t know.
Rebecca [00:00:31]: Like, little or like a teenager, five or six. Oh, he’s little.
Rebecca [00:00:33]: Yeah.
Rebecca [00:00:34]: Okay.
Rebecca [00:00:34]: He’s this little guy.
Erin [00:00:36]: But as a segue into what we’re.
Rebecca [00:00:39]: Going to talk about today, I’m going to start you with this adorable video.
Rebecca [00:00:43]: I love it.
Speaker D [00:00:45]: Fight that much tiny muscles. Look at these whoppers. Nearly, nearly a size of mountain.
Rebecca [00:00:55]: AK money.
Speaker D [00:00:56]: Huge.
Rebecca [00:00:58]: Build up.
Speaker D [00:00:59]: Build up, build up. Oh, my God, they big mountains. Mother and daddy.
Speaker E [00:01:08]: He hasn’t got any, does he?
Speaker D [00:01:09]: No, I’m tiny. They’re nearly up to here. Does he need to do this workout? I go to the gym every day.
Speaker F [00:01:19]: Do you?
Speaker D [00:01:20]: Yeah. And how do you get to the gym? My daddy drives me. I wake him up, then he drives me over there, then I lift the weights. I’m gonna go to gym tomorrow before you wake up.
Rebecca [00:01:40]: Sounds like my house.
Scott [00:01:41]: Little Scottish lad.
Rebecca [00:01:42]: I’m gonna go to the gym tomorrow.
Rebecca [00:01:44]: Before you wake up. You’re right.
Rebecca [00:01:47]: Stop it. He has all these little videos where he’s, like, talking to his sister and he’s talking to his mom and, like, he just gives this advice and I can’t with the accent. Sweet little.
Erin [00:01:58]: I know, you’re right.
Rebecca [00:01:59]: Scotty’s probably like 4 or 5. He’s little.
Erin [00:02:03]: He’s a little guy.
Rebecca [00:02:03]: Aw. So I watched that and I thought, God, that’s so interesting that this little dude, right, is like, feel my muscles. Feel how big my muscles are. They’re bigger than my dad’s, right? They’re mountains. They’re all these things. And then, of course, I can’t just take that at face value. I start to think about all the different stereotypes and social pressures that we put on men then. Hey, it’s me, Erin. Thanks for joining us on the More Love podcast. Do not tell Rebecca, but this podcast is about empathy. She likes people to think she’s dead inside, but the truth is, she’s a big time feeler who has truly helped me uncover that empathy is my superpower. There she comes.
Rebecca [00:02:54]: Hey, bestie.
Erin [00:02:55]: Hi, love.
Rebecca [00:02:56]: What are you doing?
Rebecca [00:02:57]: Oh, just getting ready to host a podcast.
Rebecca [00:03:00]: A podcast about what?
Rebecca [00:03:02]: Life.
Erin [00:03:03]: Our life as best friends who are more like sisters.
Speaker D [00:03:06]: Ah, yay.
Rebecca [00:03:07]: I love us. And I can’t wait to share our stories with the world.
Rebecca [00:03:10]: Especially the ones that involve us pushing each other. Right. To be our most authentic selves.
Rebecca [00:03:16]: Oh, man. Okay.
Erin [00:03:20]: This is the perfect segue.
Rebecca [00:03:22]: Okay.
Erin [00:03:23]: Into what we’re calling. Did Rebecca buy that?
Speaker D [00:03:33]: Oh, my God.
Rebecca [00:03:34]: Are they actual things?
Erin [00:03:36]: All right, so I recently, on a trip to Target, found.
Rebecca [00:03:43]: Oh, my God, I love that.
Erin [00:03:44]: Found a few items.
Rebecca [00:03:46]: Did you buy it?
Erin [00:03:47]: That I wasn’t sure if you bought on the trip. And here’s what happens. As you know, we always go on the trip, and then you will take some random ass thing out of your bag and put it on, and I’ll be like, what is that? So I was trying to prep myself on my trip to Target, and I found some items that I took some pictures of that I thought these might be things that Rebecca has is about to surprise me with. So I was trying to get ahead of it.
Rebecca [00:04:13]: I really. You know what? There was pink.
Erin [00:04:16]: There was not. It’s just this color. So the first thing we’re looking at here is a gigantic, puffy.
Rebecca [00:04:22]: Puffy duffel bag.
Rebecca [00:04:24]: Yeah.
Erin [00:04:25]: How would you describe that?
Rebecca [00:04:26]: Ombre. Quilted. Puffy. Quilted puffy bag that clearly goes on your suitcase because it has one of those pocket things that you put over your handle.
Erin [00:04:37]: Fascinating. I did not know that that was what that was, but, yeah, you need to get out more classic.
Rebecca [00:04:42]: Yep. Oh, I would have bought that all day for sure.
Erin [00:04:44]: That. That would have been something. So did you buy that?
Rebecca [00:04:47]: I did not, but I have one very small.
Erin [00:04:48]: You would have. Okay, let’s see. What else do we got, Scott?
Rebecca [00:04:54]: Oh, I got one of those.
Erin [00:04:56]: Yeah, I bet you do.
Rebecca [00:04:57]: I bought that when we were in Florida last time. Remember?
Erin [00:04:59]: This is the most gigantic flap hat that you can possibly imagine.
Rebecca [00:05:04]: Mine, I think, has sequins that say queen.
Sandra Doorley [00:05:09]: No.
Rebecca [00:05:09]: Something about. Something about beach.
Erin [00:05:14]: Beach bum something.
Rebecca [00:05:16]: Yeah, yeah, it’s pink.
Erin [00:05:17]: Good.
Rebecca [00:05:18]: Yeah, I’m gonna wear that.
Erin [00:05:19]: The bigger the floppier.
Rebecca [00:05:21]: Yeah, the better. 100.
Erin [00:05:22]: There was an absolutely gigantic one I saw in Florida last. It was no joke, 299 because of how big it was. But you could have worn this thing as a dress. That’s how huge it was. So I thought. Does she have one of these?
Rebecca [00:05:35]: Yes.
Erin [00:05:35]: Not. Okay. Floppy hat, 100.
Rebecca [00:05:37]: I will wear it. Okay. Yeah.
Erin [00:05:38]: Okay.
Rebecca [00:05:39]: But I did not buy one recently. I bought one.
Erin [00:05:41]: Okay.
Rebecca [00:05:41]: Last time.
Erin [00:05:41]: But you are.
Rebecca [00:05:42]: I will bring one of those.
Erin [00:05:43]: Yep.
Rebecca [00:05:43]: Okay.
Rebecca [00:05:43]: Ready to go.
Erin [00:05:44]: Okay. Thank you, Scott.
Rebecca [00:05:46]: Oh, my God, I love that.
Erin [00:05:50]: Listen, this thing, this is like a red. Way more bright pink than you could ever imagine.
Rebecca [00:05:56]: It looks red.
Erin [00:05:56]: It Is ridiculous. It’s got poof sleeves. It’s got little spots.
Rebecca [00:06:01]: It’s borderline baby ball baby doll dress with big ass sleeves.
Rebecca [00:06:04]: Yeah.
Erin [00:06:05]: You would wear that go go boots.
Rebecca [00:06:07]: No, I would wear that on the plane.
Erin [00:06:08]: Good. That’s good. Yep. This thing, I’m telling you, is a little sheer and also very, very pink. So did Rebecca buy that?
Rebecca [00:06:17]: Not yet. Oh, what are we doing after this?
Erin [00:06:19]: We got going to Target.
Rebecca [00:06:21]: Okay.
Erin [00:06:22]: Okay, Next. Oh, yes. This has a little Hannibal Lecter flare to it.
Rebecca [00:06:27]: No, I. I don’t like that.
Erin [00:06:28]: This would absolutely. Listen, it’s a jumpsuit. No, this would be something that you would be like, you know what? I think I could pull this off. And then you would have it unbuttoned. It would be rolled up into a three quarter sleeve. You’d have the pants rolled up with the most blingy. Actually, the shoes that you’re wearing, your not so lesbian croc shoes. Because the lesbians have spoken and they said, stop putting those nasty ass shoes on us because that’s not what we wear.
Rebecca [00:07:02]: Y.
Erin [00:07:03]: You’d have some ridiculous hairstyle going on, you know, but probably that feather thing. Oh, yeah, probably. There’s this. Looks like something straight up out of jail.
Rebecca [00:07:13]: Yeah, yeah, it looks like a jail suit. But you’re right, I probably would wear it. The problem is it wouldn’t fit over my thighs.
Erin [00:07:19]: It’s not your color.
Scott [00:07:20]: Tan is the new. Orange is the new black.
Erin [00:07:22]: But if it was white, if it was baby pink. Right. You’d be in this one suit all day. This one.
Rebecca [00:07:29]: Oh, yeah.
Erin [00:07:30]: Silver.
Rebecca [00:07:31]: Silver. Oh, we’ve done the silver. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Erin [00:07:34]: Okay, next.
Rebecca [00:07:35]: Oh, all day long.
Rebecca [00:07:37]: In fact, I had that one at Christmas time. Except mine had stars on it.
Erin [00:07:43]: This is a tulle. Hot pink tutu dress. Scott, are we real clear that when I.
Rebecca [00:07:50]: That’s not a dress, that’s a skirt.
Rebecca [00:07:51]: Skirt, yes.
Erin [00:07:52]: When I sent you these pictures that I was real clear that Rebecca was going to love every second of them.
Rebecca [00:07:57]: Oh, yeah.
Scott [00:07:58]: 100%.
Erin [00:07:58]: Yeah. We absolutely knew.
Rebecca [00:08:00]: So all day long.
Erin [00:08:01]: So this is a whole lot of tulle in one place. It is bright pink. You would absolutely rock this.
Rebecca [00:08:07]: You’d probably put it over your bathing suit.
Erin [00:08:09]: Oh, all day, I thought for sure.
Rebecca [00:08:11]: Yeah.
Erin [00:08:12]: Yeah. And I don’t know what you would wear on the bottom, but that is as hot pink as it possibly comes.
Rebecca [00:08:18]: Love it. It’s great. Oh, she cute. She’s borderline.
Erin [00:08:23]: That could be 80s, not be more hideous.
Rebecca [00:08:26]: It’s got. I mean, the boobs are a little this is a.
Erin [00:08:30]: It’s got lace, it’s pink. Surprise, surprise. It’s got lace sleeves. The front part looks a bit like a corset.
Rebecca [00:08:39]: Yep.
Erin [00:08:39]: Also it’s a little crappy though. Looks like a Thanksgiving turkey at the same time.
Rebecca [00:08:45]: Let’s see that.
Erin [00:08:45]: Yes you do. It’s very 80s.
Rebecca [00:08:47]: It’s very pretty in pink.
Erin [00:08:48]: Scott sees it. Yeah, it’s. It’s very something. I don’t. I don’t know. But this thing was hidden in theory.
Rebecca [00:08:56]: I would. I would like it, but it wouldn’t look cute.
Erin [00:08:58]: It came in white and pink. I really love.
Rebecca [00:09:02]: Can’t wear the white cuz my. My fake tan.
Erin [00:09:03]: Oh, right. Yeah, your fake fake tan will rub right off.
Rebecca [00:09:07]: Yeah, it’s not. It’s not cute. Oh, okay. Now these are very really.
Erin [00:09:11]: These are the worst.
Rebecca [00:09:12]: I would not. I wouldn’t.
Scott [00:09:13]: 90S.
Rebecca [00:09:14]: I wouldn’t wear these.
Erin [00:09:15]: Those are.
Rebecca [00:09:16]: Yes, you would.
Rebecca [00:09:17]: I don’t know.
Erin [00:09:18]: This is you being fashion forward. You. These are train conductor pants.
Rebecca [00:09:23]: Yeah. I don’t know if I would wear.
Erin [00:09:25]: Also hu.
Rebecca [00:09:26]: I would wear them if they didn’t have the cargo.
Erin [00:09:29]: These are. These are in the 90s.
Rebecca [00:09:30]: Yeah.
Erin [00:09:31]: These are gigantic train conductor pants that are huge. And you would wear that with a white top crop top and my gold sparkly stupid ass train conductor hat with your. With your sparkly ass high heels.
Rebecca [00:09:44]: 100.
Erin [00:09:45]: Did you buy that?
Rebecca [00:09:46]: No.
Rebecca [00:09:46]: Okay.
Rebecca [00:09:48]: No.
Speaker F [00:09:49]: Oops.
Rebecca [00:09:49]: Oh, we’re going backwards. There’s more. What is that?
Erin [00:09:52]: Oh, I’m sorry. Is that on clearance? That hair clip?
Rebecca [00:09:55]: Oh, all day long.
Erin [00:09:56]: Yeah, all day.
Rebecca [00:09:57]: You didn’t buy that? For me.
Erin [00:09:58]: It is horrendous. $4.99.
Rebecca [00:10:01]: You get that? That dollar store?
Erin [00:10:02]: Yes, I’m aware. Or in someone’s junk drawer at their house because they didn’t need it anymore.
Rebecca [00:10:07]: I would wear that.
Erin [00:10:08]: That. What is that? That thing is flower. No, I was being facetious. I’m aware of what it is. It’s super ugly.
Scott [00:10:16]: Wasn’t that in Titanic when she found the like relics?
Rebecca [00:10:19]: Oh yeah.
Rebecca [00:10:20]: It does kind of look like roach.
Scott [00:10:22]: I haven’t seen this in 85 years.
Erin [00:10:24]: It is a flower. Flower. A gold flower hair clip that has pearls on it.
Rebecca [00:10:29]: Yeah, I like it.
Erin [00:10:30]: It is not okay. And why was it on clearance and.
Rebecca [00:10:33]: Why were there eight of them?
Erin [00:10:34]: Because no one wanted them.
Rebecca [00:10:37]: And you know I would wear it.
Erin [00:10:38]: Don’t worry, they’re from the scunchy collection.
Rebecca [00:10:40]: Oh, good. Oh, it goes with my rainbow theme. No, but you won’t let me have any more suitcases.
Erin [00:10:46]: I Will not. Because you already have 12 suitcases that I found in the attic, and then I had to really haze the out of you for that.
Rebecca [00:10:53]: Listen, suitcases go with the vibe of the trip.
Erin [00:10:56]: No, that’s not how that works. Yes, they do. That’s not how that works. Yes, they do. But this one. Had this one been bigger, he would have gotten this all day.
Rebecca [00:11:03]: All day.
Erin [00:11:03]: This is a hundred percent probably in the kids section. Pink to light, pink to yellow to purple to blue.
Rebecca [00:11:09]: It’s a rainbow suitcase.
Erin [00:11:11]: Rainbow ombre suitcase.
Rebecca [00:11:13]: Yeah.
Erin [00:11:14]: Rainbow moonshine.
Rebecca [00:11:16]: Oh, nope, that.
Speaker F [00:11:17]: That.
Erin [00:11:17]: Nope, that wasn’t it.
Rebecca [00:11:18]: Nope.
Scott [00:11:19]: We’re down to the last two.
Erin [00:11:21]: Okay, thank you.
Rebecca [00:11:23]: Oh, the Depends. Why are they men’s? Oh, did you buy these for me? Oh, good. Oh, good. Oh, good. Yep, yep. I need those.
Rebecca [00:11:32]: Yes.
Erin [00:11:33]: So I did find the men’s Depends first. Wasn’t sure if you bought those. And then right next door were these silhouette boutiques, and they had a little flare on them.
Scott [00:11:44]: Men’s.
Erin [00:11:44]: Do you love that too, Scott? It’s like we share a brain. She says, why didn’t you buy me the women’s?
Rebecca [00:11:52]: Boom.
Erin [00:11:52]: Scott pushes the button, and there’s the women.
Rebecca [00:11:56]: Did you buy them? I should probably wear them.
Erin [00:11:58]: Did you buy. That is the question.
Rebecca [00:11:59]: I do have some.
Rebecca [00:12:01]: Okay, good.
Erin [00:12:02]: That’s good.
Rebecca [00:12:03]: And it’s only because when I was super sick and I was coughing all the time, I needed to be prepared.
Erin [00:12:08]: Okay. You bought these? We weren’t using, like a pad or something. We were using the full on depends. Okay.
Rebecca [00:12:15]: What was that?
Rebecca [00:12:16]: That’s fine.
Scott [00:12:17]: That means you got it, right?
Erin [00:12:18]: Oh, that’s what it was.
Rebecca [00:12:20]: Yeah. Okay.
Erin [00:12:21]: Did you get the cute pink ones?
Rebecca [00:12:23]: I did.
Rebecca [00:12:23]: Good.
Rebecca [00:12:23]: I did.
Erin [00:12:24]: That’s good.
Rebecca [00:12:24]: But I didn’t like them, and I’ll never wear them again.
Rebecca [00:12:26]: Oh, okay.
Erin [00:12:28]: All right, that’s. Thank you for disclosing that. Yeah. That is definitely 85 years old, but that is completely.
Rebecca [00:12:35]: Well, you know, coughing is not good. Yeah, coughing is not right.
Erin [00:12:39]: Coughing’s not the problem. It’s the bladder issues that come with coughing.
Rebecca [00:12:42]: The coughing triggers the bladder issues.
Rebecca [00:12:45]: Right.
Erin [00:12:45]: So.
Rebecca [00:12:45]: But now that I’m not coughing anymore, we’re all good. Right?
Erin [00:12:48]: Okay. So that was our first episode of Would revocify this.
Rebecca [00:12:55]: And now for something completely different. So my. My. My first response when we’re done watching this is gonzo, fired. Done. See ya. Why have you not resigned yet?
Rebecca [00:13:06]: Right, well, because we’re not gonna talk about it till after.
Rebecca [00:13:09]: I want to show you this video. Okay. That Scott pulled up for us. It’s not the entire video. The whole video is about 30 minutes. You can find it easily in a Google search. But this is just the part that I saw from his body cam footage in the very beginning. And my face, it just kept. It kept getting more and more. Now you haven’t seen this yet, right? This is gonna be your first time watching it.
Rebecca [00:13:30]: I haven’t heard of. No. I’ve been so.
Rebecca [00:13:32]: Oh, you haven’t even heard of it?
Rebecca [00:13:34]: No.
Rebecca [00:13:34]: Okay.
Scott [00:13:35]: She didn’t even know who Sandra Dorley was.
Rebecca [00:13:36]: No idea.
Rebecca [00:13:37]: No idea. This is my first time. No.
Scott [00:13:39]: So she’s actually perfect. She’s with a lot of other listeners.
Rebecca [00:13:42]: I’m gonna have a first reaction.
Rebecca [00:13:43]: This is great. Yeah.
Erin [00:13:45]: Scott and I though.
Rebecca [00:13:46]: No. Okay, here we go.
Sandra Doorley [00:13:53]: Sorry, I’m the D.A. i was going 55 coming home from work.
Speaker F [00:13:57]: 55 and a 35.
Sandra Doorley [00:13:59]: I don’t really care.
Speaker F [00:14:01]: Okay, so you can call. Can you come. Can you please come over here? You’re on. This is on a traffic stop, ma’am.
Sandra Doorley [00:14:07]: Yes, it is. You can call Dennis Kohlmeier right now.
Speaker F [00:14:10]: Okay? I’m telling you why I stopped you. You didn’t stop at all. Did you not hear my lights or sirens or anything?
Sandra Doorley [00:14:16]: No, I didn’t, actually.
Speaker F [00:14:16]: I was on the phone. Okay, well, you’re not supposed to be on the phone while you’re driving either.
Rebecca [00:14:20]: Yes, I am.
Sandra Doorley [00:14:20]: With the hands free? Absolutely.
Speaker F [00:14:22]: Okay.
Rebecca [00:14:23]: Why are you so calling him?
Speaker F [00:14:25]: I’m doing my job. You. You just admitted to me that you were going 55 and a 35 on Philip’s rope. What? Officer Crystal Foley, can you stay over here? Ma’am, this is a legal traffic stop. Do you have your I.D.
Sandra Doorley [00:14:40]: No, it’s in my purse here.
Speaker F [00:14:42]: You have your purse right there?
Sandra Doorley [00:14:43]: No, this is my lunch. Would you talk to your. Talk to Dennis. This is ridiculous.
Speaker F [00:14:48]: Hello, sir. Good. Ma’am, can you please stay at the back? This is elite. Ma’am, this is legal traffic stop. Can you please stay over here?
Sandra Doorley [00:14:58]: No, no. Hey, baby. Get your little guy out of here.
Speaker F [00:15:01]: Sir, I stopped her for going 55 and a 35. I’m. And she failed to stop. She drove all the way back home and parked in her garage, and now she’s not. She’s not complying with any of my commands. Ma’am, do not go inside.
Sandra Doorley [00:15:16]: Oh, my God.
Rebecca [00:15:21]: Yep.
Speaker F [00:15:22]: Yep. All right, ma’am, come outside. You can’t just go inside. This is a traffic stop. Here’s your phone back.
Sandra Doorley [00:15:29]: I understand the law better than you.
Rebecca [00:15:31]: Would you?
Speaker F [00:15:31]: 953. Can you have a supervisor come to the scene?
Sandra Doorley [00:15:34]: No. Get out of my house.
Speaker F [00:15:37]: I don’t know why. I don’t know why you’re acting like this towards me, because. Can you please go to the back of the vehicle?
Sandra Doorley [00:15:43]: I’m not going to. I’m home. I was going. I was. Okay.
Speaker E [00:15:47]: I don’t care if you got home.
Speaker F [00:15:48]: You were supposed to stop at Phillips Road when I pulled you over, when my lights were initiated, I didn’t know.
Sandra Doorley [00:15:53]: You were stopping me. There was lots of other people on the road.
Speaker F [00:15:56]: I was right behind you.
Sandra Doorley [00:15:57]: Yeah, there were other people on the road, too.
Speaker F [00:15:59]: Okay. I was directly behind you, dealing with you.
Sandra Doorley [00:16:02]: Right.
Speaker F [00:16:02]: Can you please step over here?
Sandra Doorley [00:16:03]: I’m not going to.
Speaker F [00:16:06]: What is the reason you’re. You’re so against what I’m doing? I’m doing my job. You say you’re a da.
Sandra Doorley [00:16:11]: I am the da.
Speaker F [00:16:13]: Okay.
Sandra Doorley [00:16:13]: Okay. Let me get you my badge. I am the DA of you broke.
Speaker F [00:16:21]: I just don’t understand the hostility towards me. I’m doing my job.
Rebecca [00:16:25]: I was just going to say I have.
Sandra Doorley [00:16:28]: This was a. I am the DA of Monroe County.
Speaker F [00:16:31]: I understand that, but that doesn’t give you a right to go 55 and a 35.
Rebecca [00:16:36]: Any other person would be on the floor in handcuff.
Speaker F [00:16:39]: I understand that.
Rebecca [00:16:39]: Why is he doing that?
Speaker F [00:16:40]: I understand that.
Sandra Doorley [00:16:41]: I don’t. You know what? If you give me a traffic, that’s fine. I’m the one who prosecutes it. Okay? Just go ahead and do it.
Speaker F [00:16:49]: I just don’t understand the hostility. I understand you’re coming home from work.
Sandra Doorley [00:16:54]: And half the time I was on the phone with Dennis telling him. Why are you pulling me over?
Speaker F [00:16:58]: You’re not even supposed to be on.
Rebecca [00:16:59]: The phone to begin with.
Rebecca [00:17:00]: You should know that.
Sandra Doorley [00:17:01]: Oh, oh, oh.
Rebecca [00:17:02]: You can stop it there, Scott.
Sandra Doorley [00:17:03]: Absolutely.
Rebecca [00:17:05]: Now, I want to read you.
Speaker F [00:17:06]: Okay. If it is. That’s great.
Rebecca [00:17:08]: Okay. I want to read you her statement. So this all comes out. Okay. Now, this is what I asked Morgan. I said, how the hell did they get the FOIA request on that. That quick, right? Freedom of Information law. That. Because this thing was posted almost immediately, right?
Scott [00:17:25]: Oh, yeah.
Rebecca [00:17:26]: And by who?
Rebecca [00:17:27]: Who posted.
Rebecca [00:17:27]: The police department?
Scott [00:17:28]: Yeah. They made it. They put it up there, and then all the news media grabbed it.
Rebecca [00:17:32]: Yeah. And so this goes out yesterday, and she then is forced or feels some place that she has to make a statement. So I want to read you the statement because I think this is an interesting part of this conversation as well. This is her statement, her full statement on Monday, April 22, 2024. I was driving home following a busy day at work. I admit that I was not paying attention to my speed. On Phillips Road in the town of Webster, less than half a mile from my neighborhood, I noticed a Webster police car behind me. Once I realized that the intention of the car was to pull me over, I called the Webster police chief to inform him that I was not a threat and that I would speak to the officer at my house down the street. The Webster police officer followed me to my house and issued me a speeding ticket for my speed of 55 mph in a 35 mile per hour zone. I acknowledged that I was speeding and I accepted the ticket. By 1pm the following day, I pled guilty and sent the ticket to the Webster town court because I believe in accepting responsibility for my actions and had no intention of using my position to receive a benefit. Nobody, including your district attorney, is above the rule of law, even traffic laws. Nobody who knows me understands, or anybody who knows me understands without a doubt that I have dedicated my 33 year career to the safety of this community. My work to ensure the safety and respect of law enforcement is well proven over time. I stand by my work and I stand by my commitment to the public safety of Monroe County.
Rebecca [00:19:13]: Absolutely not. Absolutely not.
Scott [00:19:17]: She left out a lot.
Rebecca [00:19:18]: She broke numerous laws.
Rebecca [00:19:20]: Yup.
Rebecca [00:19:21]: Any other person?
Rebecca [00:19:23]: Yep.
Rebecca [00:19:24]: Never. That the officer wouldn’t have treated him.
Rebecca [00:19:26]: The same way if that was a black man.
Rebecca [00:19:28]: I was gonna say that, but I’m like, is that appropriate?
Rebecca [00:19:30]: It’s the truth.
Scott [00:19:31]: Forget it.
Rebecca [00:19:32]: If that was a black man, they would have been shot dead.
Scott [00:19:35]: Dead would have thrown the stop sticks out before they even got to his house.
Rebecca [00:19:39]: Correct. And they would never have allowed him to go to his house.
Rebecca [00:19:42]: No.
Rebecca [00:19:42]: They never would have allowed him to get out of the car like that. They never would have allowed him to go back into his car over and over again to get whatever right they were getting from the passenger side.
Rebecca [00:19:52]: It could have been a gun. The first thing I thought, is she getting a gun?
Rebecca [00:19:55]: Right. No way.
Rebecca [00:19:57]: No way in the entire.
Rebecca [00:19:59]: They would never have let the talking back happen. The. No, I’m not doing that. Right. You want any.
Rebecca [00:20:06]: So whose fault is it? Is it. Is it hers or is it the police officer?
Scott [00:20:09]: It’s hers.
Rebecca [00:20:10]: Well, yeah, but why was the police officer allowing her to do any of that?
Rebecca [00:20:13]: Both.
Scott [00:20:14]: Oh, yeah.
Sandra Doorley [00:20:15]: So.
Scott [00:20:15]: Yeah.
Erin [00:20:16]: Actually.
Rebecca [00:20:16]: Yeah.
Scott [00:20:16]: So the police.
Rebecca [00:20:17]: He should have arrested her immediately.
Rebecca [00:20:20]: Can you even imagine?
Rebecca [00:20:21]: Absolutely. The first thing I thought that was all the things going through my head.
Scott [00:20:26]: Be with him. It would be for him, I thought.
Rebecca [00:20:27]: I mean, he did. Under the circumstances, I think he did a pretty good job of trying to figure out what was up versus what’s down, because imagine what’s coming at him, right? He’s like, okay, she’s calling my supervisor. Okay. I still have to do my job. Okay. She didn’t pull over when I told her to pull over.
Rebecca [00:20:47]: If it was a black traffic shot, he would have. Still.
Scott [00:20:49]: No. Yeah, but when. When you. When you mix politics into the whole duty of a police officer, it gets. We’ve seen these stories before because we all watch all those. Those shows, right? So we. My wife and I watched the body cam show. I think there’s like eight seasons of it or something. And this happened. Can’t remember where, but it was the mayor, and the mayor got pulled over, and he. And he was drinking.
Rebecca [00:21:18]: Mm.
Scott [00:21:19]: And he was like, calling the chief and saying, hey, you know, da, da, da. And eventually he had to concede and, you know, plead guilty and all that kind of stuff. And he eventually. I think they even got reelected somehow. But, you know, that’s a. I feel bad for the officers in that situation, because they’re like. They understand, all right? This person, technically, is my boss, and they’re in charge, but at the same time, I got a job to do.
Rebecca [00:21:47]: But also, it’s the aspect of this woman. I’m asking her to do something, and she’s not doing it. And now I have to make decisions in the moment. Do I pull my gun?
Scott [00:21:58]: Right.
Rebecca [00:21:58]: Do I grab her? You know, do I tase her? Do I grab her by the arms and throw her down? This is. Again, it’s a. It’s a traffic stop, but it’s a traffic stop that’s escalated.
Rebecca [00:22:10]: Yeah.
Rebecca [00:22:10]: And at her house, Right.
Rebecca [00:22:12]: She. She is broken. And he even says that he’s like, you continue to break laws that she should be well aware of.
Rebecca [00:22:19]: Well, if you’re the DA and at one point in the video, I don’t know if it happened here, but she said, I’m well aware of the laws. I know the laws better than you do.
Scott [00:22:26]: Yeah. And when the supervisor shows up, he. He starts telling her, sandra, you know this.
Rebecca [00:22:32]: Oh, I didn’t see any part with the supervisor that showed up. Did you see that part, Scott?
Scott [00:22:36]: Yeah.
Rebecca [00:22:37]: Okay, so what happened then? Basically? Sure.
Scott [00:22:41]: Yeah. This is the supervisor.
Rebecca [00:22:43]: Oh, here he comes.
Speaker F [00:22:46]: 55 and 35 on Phillips. She didn’t stop at all. Decided to drive home. Called the Feed us Forward.
Sandra Doorley [00:22:54]: It’s getting to be a Big deal. Jeff’s here. So let Jeff take care of it.
Rebecca [00:22:58]: All right.
Erin [00:22:59]: All right. Bye. Bye.
Rebecca [00:23:00]: And she’s on the phone.
Sandra Doorley [00:23:03]: Hi. I’ll talk to Jeff. Jeff.
Rebecca [00:23:06]: Okay.
Sandra Doorley [00:23:07]: I was just on the phone with.
Speaker E [00:23:08]: Okay. I’m the supervisor over right now, so.
Sandra Doorley [00:23:11]: Okay. Sorry, I didn’t want to pull over on. On Film Road. It was just. I just didn’t. I figured. I just pulled to my driveway.
Speaker E [00:23:18]: Okay.
Sandra Doorley [00:23:19]: And I called Den. And I said, okay, that’s me that they’re trying to stop.
Speaker E [00:23:23]: Okay?
Sandra Doorley [00:23:23]: So that’s. That’s end of story.
Speaker E [00:23:25]: Okay. But you should know better, right?
Sandra Doorley [00:23:27]: I was speeding.
Rebecca [00:23:28]: I always.
Sandra Doorley [00:23:29]: I don’t.
Rebecca [00:23:29]: I know that.
Speaker E [00:23:30]: Okay, so why didn’t you just stop.
Speaker F [00:23:32]: Like you’re supposed to?
Sandra Doorley [00:23:32]: Because I didn’t feel like stopping. In Philip’s role.
Speaker E [00:23:35]: That’s not your choice. You know that.
Sandra Doorley [00:23:38]: Well, I made it my choice.
Speaker E [00:23:40]: Okay, well, now. Now you made it a bigger deal than it needed to be.
Sandra Doorley [00:23:44]: It’s a really bigger deal than when people start coming. It’s a much bigger deal.
Speaker E [00:23:47]: Well, you ca. You caused that. Sandra, what do you want us to do? Not do our job because it’s you?
Sandra Doorley [00:23:53]: No, it’s fine. I said write me a ticket. But I was just saying I was not gonna stop at volks road at 5:30.
Speaker E [00:24:00]: Okay, well, you broke another law because of that, right? So you should know better.
Rebecca [00:24:07]: She should be arrested.
Speaker E [00:24:08]: That’s an arrestable offense, Sandra.
Rebecca [00:24:11]: But they’re not doing it. This is setting a precedent.
Speaker E [00:24:13]: Why would you not just pull over? You made it a bigger deal than it needed to be. And you knew why you were getting stopped. Clearly.
Speaker F [00:24:21]: Clear.
Speaker E [00:24:22]: Clearly she could have stopped you. Now she with you and been done with it. But now you made it this whole big deal for no reason entitled. License and registration.
Sandra Doorley [00:24:32]: Yeah, okay.
Speaker E [00:24:34]: You have her. Did she.
Rebecca [00:24:35]: She’s starting to realize in this moment.
Scott [00:24:38]: Yeah, but she’s.
Rebecca [00:24:39]: Oh, boy.
Rebecca [00:24:40]: Yeah.
Rebecca [00:24:41]: I have not done this correctly.
Scott [00:24:45]: Yeah, she keeps doubling down.
Rebecca [00:24:47]: Of course she is. Because she’s trying to utilize her title would be easier. Easier.
Sandra Doorley [00:24:54]: Apparently I was wrong.
Speaker E [00:24:55]: Yeah. That was not the right choice.
Rebecca [00:24:59]: Who’s that guy? You know the deal if he would stop you there on.
Rebecca [00:25:02]: Probably the supervisor.
Scott [00:25:03]: He’s another supervisor. That’s the officer.
Rebecca [00:25:07]: That’s the attending officer.
Rebecca [00:25:09]: She should have been arrested.
Speaker E [00:25:11]: Yeah. You.
Scott [00:25:12]: What a gorgeous day in Webster, though, huh?
Rebecca [00:25:14]: Yeah.
Rebecca [00:25:14]: Right.
Erin [00:25:15]: Okay, you can stop it.
Rebecca [00:25:17]: So.
Rebecca [00:25:18]: I’m sorry.
Rebecca [00:25:19]: I know. I know. Zero empathy. I don’t have any empathy. It’s fascinating to me because I was really trying to search for Some. But I felt irate. Deplorable. That behavior is deplorable.
Erin [00:25:33]: This is.
Rebecca [00:25:34]: It’s. Again, what’s the point of having laws when we pick and choose who has to follow them, Right?
Rebecca [00:25:40]: Absolutely.
Erin [00:25:41]: So.
Rebecca [00:25:42]: And she keeps saying when somebody else does it.
Rebecca [00:25:45]: Right.
Rebecca [00:25:45]: So can’t you point back and be like, well, you didn’t do anything to her.
Rebecca [00:25:47]: Absolutely.
Rebecca [00:25:48]: And you posted that. You posted that you did nothing to her, so you can’t do it to me.
Rebecca [00:25:53]: Right.
Rebecca [00:25:54]: You can’t pick and choose.
Rebecca [00:25:56]: I didn’t feel safe. Right.
Rebecca [00:25:57]: I didn’t feel safe on the highway.
Rebecca [00:25:58]: So I actually continued to drive all the way to my house.
Rebecca [00:26:02]: Right.
Rebecca [00:26:03]: We’re not talking one house away from the street all the way. We’re talking going through the entire neighborhood to go to my house. Right.
Rebecca [00:26:12]: And you had the audacity to call the chief and say, oh, there it’s me and you. Hoping.
Rebecca [00:26:17]: So we’re clear, you did not call the chief to say, right, Hi, Chief. Just wanted to let you know I seem to be getting pulled over here. Not a threat. Happy to comply with the law when I get right to my house. No, you said, handle it, chief. Right.
Rebecca [00:26:30]: Call this off.
Rebecca [00:26:31]: Call the dogs off, because we’re not doing this. But the entitled elite. I’m above the law.
Rebecca [00:26:40]: I loved that.
Erin [00:26:41]: Me too. Isn’t empathy amazing?
Rebecca [00:26:44]: Well, we’re amazing. I don’t know about all this empathy stuff.
Rebecca [00:26:47]: That’s fine. I accept you wherever you are. Oh, God, I love you.
Rebecca [00:26:54]: I love you, too.
Rebecca [00:26:55]: And if you love us, please like and subscribe to more. Love the Power of Empathy podcast. Wherever you get your podcasts.
